What condition is shown at the wrist?
What are the treatment options?
Is recurrence likely?
This show a ganglion on the dorsum of the wrist. It is usually treated by surgical excision under local anaesthetic, ideally with an arterial tourniquet. Care needs to be taken to avoid injury to any surrounding structures, such as tendons, nerves and arteries. Recurrence rates are high. An alternative treatment is injection of hyaluronidase. If asymptomatic, the ganglion may simply be left.
