What are the diagnostic features?
Synergistic gangrene. Infection with a mixture of organisms both aerobic and anaerobic. Diagnostic features are dusky discolouration of the skin with a rapid spread of change in patients at risk, ie after gastrointestinal surgery, or who are immuno compromised. General toxicity and subcutaneous crepitus are relatively late signs.
