What condition is shown in the photograph?
How should it be treated?
There is a large inguinal swelling underneath a typical right inguinal hernia incision. This is most likely to be a recurrent inguinal hernia. A further surgical repair is indicated and this is best performed by laparoscopic surgery with insertion of a prosthetic mesh. An open mesh repair could be performed but the risk of complications is high.
