What is the differential diagnosis?
What anatomical landmarks help in examination?
There is a groin swelling on the left side which could be an inguinal hernia, a femoral hernia, a saphena varix, a lymph gland or a cyst of the spermatic cord. Other less common diagnoses are possible. Important landmarks are the pubic tubercle, the anterior superior iliac spine, the femoral artery and the mid inguinal point.
