This
BASIC SURGICAL SKILLS COURSE, perhaps
the first of it's kind in India, represents an important step in raising the
levels of Surgical Skills to levels of excellence comparable to international
standards. It is a matter of special satisfaction to me that a group of highly
qualified, competent and dedicated surgeons, from the private sector in Chennai,
has responded to my call as head of the Dr.N.R Research & Digestive Diseases
Educational Trust, to organise and run such a Course on a regular basis.
It is specially praiseworthy that despite constraints of financial and
equipment resources, this group of surgeons has developed the required
course material, in an attempt to match the international standards set by the
Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, of which they are all Fellows. The course
material has been incorporated in this CD ROM in a Web-based format, with attractive
multi-media features, so as to come within inexpensive and extensive reach of
individuals and institutions, through stand-alone computers, and in due
course, the Internet or Intranets.
