Gastric rupture

A 15 year old boy presented 24 hours after an accident when a heavy iron pillar fell across his abdomen following a meal. Clinical examination was revealed of peritonitis. Laparotomy revealed rupture of stomach along the entire lesser curvature.

Primary closure of the defect was performed with 3-0 vicryl. The post-operative period was uneventful.
